5th Germany-Korea Hydrogen Conference

The 5th Germany-Korea Hydrogen Conference, held on October 22nd and 23rd at the Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina, brought together leading experts to discuss advancements and collaborations in hydrogen technology. Co-organized by Fraunhofer IMWS, Hochschule Anhalt, KENTECH University, BAM, KGCCI, H2Korea, adelphi, and the Korean-German Energy Partnership, with financial support from BMWK and BMBF, the conference emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the global ramp-up of the hydrogen economy.

Day 1 featured compelling discussions on hydrogen economics, policy, and regulatory frameworks. Jana Narita, Senior Manager, adephi moderated Session A, with presentations from Dr. Christine Falken-Grosser, BMWK on Germany's Hydrogen Import Strategy and H2Korea on strategic initiatives. Key insights were also provided by Dr. Susana Moreira, H2Global; Prof. Dr. Martin Wietschel, Fraunhofer ISI; and Prof. Dr. Jin-Nam Park, Kyungil University. Sessions B and C explored advancements in hydrogen production and logistics, with contributions from KENTECH, Fraunhofer IFAM Dresden, Overplus Power, and others, highlighting innovative technologies and infrastructure development.

Day 2 began with Jana Narita's presentation on a study of hydrogen cooperation opportunities between leading hydrogen Nations Korea, Germany, Japan and Australia, followed by insights from Dr. Philipp Verpoort, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Sessions D and E focused on hydrogen utilization and safety, featuring Hyundai's mobility strategy and Siemens Energy's decarbonization efforts, alongside safety innovations from BAM and TÜV Rheinland Group and many more. This conference underscored the vital role of collaboration in advancing hydrogen technology and achieving carbon neutrality.
