3rd Cooperation Committee Meeting

The 3rd Cooperation Committee Meeting of the Korean-German Energy Partnership convened on 2nd December 2025 at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, where senior government representatives from both countries gathered to advance bilateral cooperation on energy transition and innovation. The meeting was co-chaired by Director General Eunhae Jeong from Korea’s Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE) and Deputy Director General Axel Bree from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). Both sides exchanged updates on national energy policies, reviewed progress within the partnership, and agreed on new areas of cooperation for the year ahead.

Discussions focused on two key working groups. Amongst the cooperation topics of Working Group 1 on Energy Transition are grid expansion and modernization, skilled workforce for offshore wind, and raising public acceptance for renewables. Working Group 2 on New Green Energy Technologies will, amongst other topics, deepen the exchange on battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hydrogen distribution and overseas transport. As a next milestone, the partners look forward to the 8th Korean-German Energy Day (KGED), scheduled to take place in Germany in 2026.
